Plain-language rules for using Groupiie. Please read them, because by using the site you agree to them. The short version: be real, be kind, only post what you are allowed to, and remember that clubs and events are run by their organisers.
01Agreeing to these terms
These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Groupiie (“Groupiie”, “we”, “us”), which runs the website at groupiie.com and its related domains. By creating an account or using Groupiie, you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy, our Cookie Policy and our Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
These terms are published under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
02What Groupiie is
Groupiie helps people find, list and run social clubs and their events. Members create profiles, join clubs, and RSVP to events. Organisers create clubs and events and manage their members.
Groupiie is a platform that hosts what users publish. Clubs and events are run by their organisers, not by us. We do not organise, supervise, insure or vouch for any club, event, venue or person, and we are not a party to any arrangement between members and organisers.
03Who can use it
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract under Indian law.
- You must give accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date.
- One person, one account. Do not create accounts for other people or pretend to be someone else.
- You may not use Groupiie if we have suspended or removed your account before, unless we allow it.
04Your account
Keep your password private and use one you do not use elsewhere. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at support@groupiie.com straight away if you think someone else has used it.
You can download your data or delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting your account is permanent.
05What you post
You keep ownership of the text and information you post, such as your profile, club pages and event details. You give Groupiie a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, display and share that content, only to run and promote the service. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where others have already shared it or we must keep it by law.
You promise that you have the right to post what you post, and that it follows these terms and the law.
06Things you must not do
You must not host, display, upload, change, publish, send, store, update or share any information that, in line with Rule 3(1)(b) of the IT Rules 2021:
- belongs to someone else and you have no right to it;
- is defamatory, obscene, pornographic, paedophilic, invades another person’s privacy (including bodily privacy), insults or harasses on the basis of gender, or is racially or ethnically objectionable;
- encourages money laundering or gambling, or is otherwise against any law in force;
- is harmful to children;
- infringes any patent, trademark, copyright or other proprietary rights;
- deceives or misleads about where a message came from, or knowingly spreads misinformation or information that is patently false or untrue;
- impersonates another person;
- threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with other countries or public order, incites any offence, or insults another nation;
- contains software viruses or any code designed to interrupt, destroy or limit any computer resource; or
- is patently false and untrue, and is written or published to mislead or harass any person for financial gain or to cause injury.
You also must not:
- spam, advertise unrelated products or collect other users’ details for marketing;
- create fake clubs or events, or use events to sell tickets or services without saying so clearly;
- scrape, copy or crawl the service in bulk, or try to get around rate limits, security or moderation;
- access accounts or data that are not yours, or try to break or overload the service.
07Moderation and removal
New clubs and events are reviewed before they go public. We may decline, hide, revoke or remove any club, event, profile or other content, and suspend or close any account, if we believe it breaks these terms or the law, or puts people at risk. Where we can, we tell the organiser why.
When we receive a valid court order or a notice from an authorised government agency, or when we otherwise have actual knowledge of unlawful content, we remove or disable access to it within the time the IT Rules 2021 require. We may keep the information and related records for 180 days, or longer if the law or an investigation requires it.
If you think something on Groupiie breaks these rules, report it through the Report link on the club or event, or write to our Grievance Officer (see Contact & Grievances).
08Clubs, events and your safety
Going to an event means meeting people in real life. Organisers are responsible for their clubs and events, including venues, permissions, safety, fees and refunds. Members take part at their own risk and should use their own judgement, especially for physical activities, travel and meeting new people.
RSVPs, waitlists and entry passes are tools to help organisers. They do not guarantee a place, and organisers may change or cancel events. If you ever feel unsafe, contact local emergency services first (112 in India).
09Our name and software
The Groupiie name, logo, design and software belong to Groupiie. These terms do not give you any right to use them, except to use the service as intended and to share links to it.
10Disclaimers
Groupiie is provided “as is” and “as available”. We work to keep it running and secure, but we do not promise it will always be available, error-free or that content posted by users is accurate.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for anything that happens at a club or event, or for the acts of other users. Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to ₹1,000. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.
11Ending your use
You can stop using Groupiie and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop running the service. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as disclaimers and limits of liability, keep applying after your account ends.
12Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service or the law changes. We will show the new date at the top of this page, and for important changes we will tell you on the site before they take effect. If you keep using Groupiie after that, you accept the new terms.
13Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Please contact us first, as most problems can be solved quickly. If a dispute cannot be resolved, the courts at Ahmedabad, Gujarat have exclusive jurisdiction.
